On Halloween, CHS students showed support for student publications by purchasing the ability to wear hats to show their spooky spirit.

“Seeing people express holiday spirit brought a nice change to Center,” senior Norriel Barnes said. “The participation from the students was unexpected but very great. It kind of made the place seem a little happier.”

Some students did not participate, but still liked the idea of wearing a hat.

“I didn’t think it would be that big of a deal, junior Lena Amburn said. “but a lot of people participated, and it was a nice change at CHS.”

The ability to wear a hat on Halloween was a fundraiser sponsored by Student Publications.

“We don’t get many fundraisers during the year, so it was nice that people participated and supported us,” sophomore reporter Leo Ariza said.

Some students even took it to the next level and made a costume out of it.

“Daniela and I decided to be the angel and devil,” senior Angel Pineda said. “It was a cute couples’ costume, without getting in trouble for dressing up.”

Halloween at Center High School was a success, especially since it was the first year for any kind of dress up.

“Considering it wasn’t really a dress up day, a lot of students managed to bring Halloween spirit into the school,” Barnes said. “I hope to see it continue to improve throughout the years.”
